Match Report

The Blues went second two points behind leaders Hitchin Town with a useful 3-1 victory away to Atherstone Town.  Will DUNLOP headed us into a 16th minute lead and then an own goal from home defender Thomas Guiney gave us a 2-0 lead on 28 minutes. The goal came after skipper Paul Brett got forward and sent a low cross into the box that saw Guiney and keeper Nathan Woakes get in  the way of each other before the ball ended up in the net.  Before the break it really should have been 4-0 to the Blues the amount of chances that were created.  Grant Roscoria scored for the hosts on 78 minutes before Jordan DOWDICAN made things safe on 88 minutes with a superb strike wide of Woakes.  Another fine victory on the road well executed despite the odd scare during the second period that saw Paul McCarthy in tip top form again.

Atherstone Town: Nathan Woakes, Anthony Bruce (Dave Hayward) Giovanni Dainty, Ton Guiney, Dominic Langdon, Adan Menchchefe (Jordan Brown) Stuart Hendrie (Tom Weale) Dean Rathbone, Luke Edwards, Luke Keen, Grant Roscoria.  Sub not used Chris Sturridge Parker

Burnham: Paul McCarthy, Dave Tilbury, Ben Hudell, Paul Brett, Will Dunlop, Adrian Sear, Paul Coyne, Stuart Swift, Dean Papali (Jordan Dowdican) Ryan Bird (Oli Godwin) Terry O’Connor.  Subs not used Luke Dexter, Dan Hicks and Chay Morris.
